Wambui Mukenyi is one young Kenyan fashion designer who I know for sure is going places!
The Wambui Mukenyi label is a statement of style in contemporary living where refinement meets the dynamic needs of any wardrobe. Wambui as a fashion designer dares touch what others are not willing to touch. She uses daring fabrics (such as leather and faux-leather that not many people use) and creates daring designs (you should see the detail on all of her creations); she is not stuck in a moment and hence, works her creative mind over time.
Founded in 2009, the Wambui Mukenyi label is the ultimate fashion brainchild of a self taught designer, a true artist and a visionary hence the aim of show-casing the African culture and at the same time showing the designer’s love for luxurious fabric. The demand for her label has been soaring with her features in fashion magazines in Kenya.
Wambui Mukenyi has started the year on a really fashionable, high note with her most recent collection is featured in the Wambui Mukenyi Fall 2014 Campaign. Looking at these campaign images I’m falling in love with the label all over again. Citizen’s Wedding Show and DSTV’s Mashariki Mix host, Sarah Hassan is one of the celebrities endorsing this collection together with Sisione Torome, who plays ‘Wangui’ in the DSTV series Kona in the fashion collection mixology.
Sarah Hassan poses beautifully in Wambui Mukenyi’s collections which is made up of different jackets, gowns, skirts and tops which portrayed the collections of the self-taught fashion designer in her studio at Highridge, Diamond Plaza.
The unique element about Wambui’s designs is that they can be worn by any fashionable lady, for any formal event and perhaps to church as they combine chic, comfort and classy. You can get the outfits in whatever size as Wambui deals with most body shapes and sizes and you don’t have to worry about somebody else rocking the same dress as there’s a variety of color options to choose from to suit your taste. It’s also guaranteed that the fabric used is also of top quality hence measuring up to your money’s worth.
Looking at the label’s previous collections, Wambui Mukenyi deviated from the favorite red and went with black and white. Classic colors that we all need and must have in our closets. Most of the dresses will be retailing at Ksh 5,950. Full look book will be up later on this coming week with all the pieces for any fashion enthusiast to glance at.
What do you think of her collection?
