Kenya is quickly becoming the go-to place for the international market to pluck top lifestyle personalities from. Joining the list of personalities waving the Kenyan flag world over is teen model, Nicole Atieno Oyende.
At only 18, the Kenyan-born beauty is already off to a great start & amid new faces of pro-models to watch out for. Having made headlines globally after making her modeling debut for Gucci, this Kenyan beauty did not fail to impress as she catwalked during Milan Fashion Week for their Spring 2016 collection. Thereafter, Nicole headed off to walk for Fausto Puglisi.
She also made a big hit when she was featured in an exclusive article on Vogue Magazine alongside other new Gucci models. She talked about following in the footsteps of her mother who inspired her into the world of modelling and was also a model herself.
Vogue Magazine at one point had very flowery things to say about Nicole – writing this “Some girls are born for the runway – elegant Kenyan Atieno is one of them. Already capable of a killer catwalk strut, Atieno is following in the footsteps of her model mom and aims to “take Milan by storm.”
To add a feather to her hat, Nicole has been across the globe posing in features for Dior, Gucci, Calvin Klein, Jill Sander and United Colours of Benneton among other brands as well as working with some of the world’s best fashion photographers including David Pinzer, Dirk Uebele and Frank Fendler.
Nicole says she is very happy and content with her work so far, “I feel like it’s an illusion. I can’t believe all this is actually happening. But it is”. Adding that, it’s only the beginning, as she wants to gain more experience.
Nicole began her modeling career in 2013 after the mom organized for her first photoshoot when she was 15 as her birthday gift. A year later, she got the opportunity to have a professional shoot and catwalk experience that indeed opened doors for her in the fashion world.
Although Ms. Atieno was born and bred in Kenya, she now calls home Germany where she has been living for 5 years now. She’s signed to Supreme Management (Paris), Wilhelmina Models and Women Management Milano agencies.
She’s definitely got her work cut out for her, but with her runway ID, she’s undeniably going places.
