Just like Birds: SWIM 2017 by ANDREA IYAMAH

1-andrea-iyamah-ss17-swimwear-lookbook-fashion-onobello-21Even though your beach vacation/getaway might still be months away, there is no fashion rule that says a woman can’t get her wardrobe updated early.

ANDREA IYAMAH, Africa’s leading swimwear label, recently unveiled her Spring/Summer 2017 swimwear lookbook and it is absolutely stunning. Known for her eye-catching campaigns, this new collection denotes elegance, vibrance, beauty and oozes a retro feel to it.

Initially the lookbook reminded me of water fairies dancing – but then I noticed the feathers in the headwrap and realized of course: the models are meant to be birds!

What started as a fashion blog turned into a career for Nigerian fashion designer, Dumebi Iyamah

Sticking to her identifiable aesthetic, the flamboyant swimwear collection (paired with headwraps) consists of unique pieces from high waist bikinis (with built in support for the bust), one piece suits, and off shoulder designs, that also come in vibrant colours, playful prints and a few mesh creations.

Inspired by the beauty and colours of birds, the Swim 2017 collection draws its inspiration from the elements of an avian habitat. According to the creative director/owner Dumebi Iyamah, “This season, we focused on modest feminine silhouettes, paying attention to print, colour and fabrication while maintaining the vibrancy synonymous with the brand”.

From curvier frames to athletic body types, IYAMAH’s SS 2017 collection flatters to every woman.
